How to Refresh & Reuse Your Elumi Pearled Candle

Wondering how to reuse a pearled candle after its first burn? Elumi wax pearls are made to be refreshed. You can relight the existing wick, replace it when it is spent, and level the remaining pearls to give your candle a fresh look.
Can you relight the same wick?
Yes. Once your candle has cooled completely, check the wick. If it is still usable, you can relight it for another session. You do not need a new wick every time you light your Elumi.
How to replace a candle wick
When the wick has burned down, extinguish the flame and let the wax cool and harden completely. Gently lift out the spent wick and any wax attached to it. Level the loose pearls, insert a fresh Elumi wick, and leave around 2 cm of wick exposed above the pearls. Your candle is ready for its next burn.
Can you flip and reuse a wick?
If the unburned end of a removed wick is still long enough to use, you can turn it over and insert that end into the pearls. Do this only after everything has cooled, and leave around 2 cm exposed. If the wick is too short or damaged, use a new one instead.
What to do with the hardened melt pool
The wax that melts around the wick will harden again after the flame is out. Once completely cool, you can remove it with the spent wick. If you want to return that wax to your candle, break the clean hardened wax into small pieces and mix it with the loose pearls. Discard any pieces that contain wick debris or other material.
Level and restyle your pearls
Gently level the loose wax pearls after removing the cooled melt pool. You can change the vessel or top up your candle with more Elumi wax pearls when needed. Use a suitable heat-resistant vessel and follow the placement guidance included with your candle.
Change the fragrance next time
Elumi pearls start unscented, so a refresh is a chance to choose a different fragrance. Add a few drops of Elumi scent oil near the wick before lighting. Never add oil to a burning candle or hot wax. For more ideas, read our guide to candle scents.
